Gavin George is the co-founder and former Chief Executive Officer of The Laine Pub Company, a multiple pub operator and craft brewer based in Brighton. He moved to Brighton & Hove in 1988 to study and in 1996 launched Laine with the opening of the Mash Tun pub in the city’s theatre district. He took the company to an estate of 60 pubs with locations in Brighton, London and Birmingham plus production breweries in West Sussex and Essex. Fascinated by the contemporary and historic impact that pubs and beer have on a society’s culture, Gavin always strived to ensure that Laine’s pub and beer experiences remain inviting, indulging and inspiring for their customers and valued by the communities they serve. Laine become part of Punch Pubs & Co in 2018 and Gavin stepped down as Laine CEO in 2024 after 28 years in post. He remains a non-exec at Punch and has joined the boards of Chickpea Group, Market Halls and Team Domenica.
