Greggs to open The Golden Flake Tavern in Newcastle

Greggs to open The Golden Flake Tavern in Newcastle

Greggs is raising the bar – quite literally – with the launch of The Golden Flake Tavern, the bakery’s first-ever pub. Opening at Fenwick Newcastle on 27 September, the limited-time concept blends Greggs’ cult favourites with a full pub experience, complete with Greggs-inspired beers on tap.

Open daily from 11am to 7pm, The Golden Flake Tavern invites visitors to swap their usual sausage roll run for a pint of something distinctly Greggs. The drinks list includes a Pink Jammie IPA and Gosforth 1939 Stottie Lager, brewed in collaboration with Newcastle’s Full Circle Brew Co, alongside a cocktail menu featuring a Spiced Caramel Doughnut Old Fashioned and the Pink Jammie Fizz.

Food follows suit with a playful twist on pub classics. Expect sharing boards, hearty bakes and a Sunday Greggs Carvery with all the trimmings. Dishes range from a Chicken Bake Parmo to a Ploughman’s Platter, with desserts such as Pink Jammie Trifle and Yum Yum Bread & Butter Pudding rounding out the menu.

Reservations open from 25 September, with the venue available for private hire. For those looking to take a taste home, the exclusive beers will also be on sale at the Fenwick Food Hall and online from 29 September.

The Golden Flake Tavern marks a bold – and characteristically tongue-in-cheek – move from Greggs as it continues to expand its brand into new formats. Whether for a pre-match pint or a pastry-paired cocktail, this is one pop-up pub that promises to be anything but half-baked.
