Changing the Landscape

PUB presents a specially commissioned series of films that celebrates the constant evolution of the pub industry in the UK. The ‘Changing the Landscape’ films feature entrepreneurial business people and heritage publicans, all of whose message is straightforward – do the simple things well.

1 - The London Picture

With over 4,000 pubs operating in the city, publicans have to ensure their stand out. Here, we speak to an independent brewpub, small group owner and one of the UK’s largest pubcos about how they stay competitive and innovative, whilst not forgetting the essentials.

Young's Burger Shack - London

2 - The UK Picture

In Manchester, we visit two pubs at opposite ends of the spectrum. At one end, an old-style boozer that has maintained its charm and popularity for almost 50 years. At the other, a newly-renovated and contemporary brewpub with the ‘best cheese menu in Manchester’. Meanwhile, a local community saved its local pub in Derby, transforming its look and function in the process.

3 - The Design Opportunity

Spectacular modern design or traditional simple touches? Interior design depends on the building, personality, budget and more – no pub can adopt a one-size-fits-all approach. Be inspired by a range of techniques from shabby chic to elegant gastro via Victorian film club.

4 - Food Heroes

The fourth video in the Changing the Landscape series explores the progression in pub food and trends for the coming year, and features Andrew Fishwick and Jesse Dunford Wood, both of whom are speaking at the show.
